Make Phonics fun with this Interactive Christmas Themed Segmenting Game!

The goal is to help pupils practise segmenting words into their sounds, and grow their knowledge of how the sounds correspond to different graphemes. It can also be used to practise segmenting and spelling words with adjacent consonants, polysyllabic words and alternative spellings.

Here’s how it works:
Pupils hear a recording of a word and see a lovely matching picture. Below there are some tiles, each with a grapheme on. The aim of the game is to rearrange the tiles to correctly make the word — and avoid the tricky tiles with incorrect graphemes on. You’re in control of which graphemes are included, so you can tailor the game to your pupils. Handy!

You can play all our Phonics games on your Interactive Whiteboard with the whole class, or one-to-one. We’ve made sure they’re full of colourful pictures, jolly characters and snazzy animations, so they’re a sure-fire way to make your Phonics lessons more exciting!
