Segmenting Sundae Game (Reception & Year 1)

It doesn't get more delicious (and educational) than this incredible Segmenting Interactive Phonics Game. And the cherry on top? It's packed with fun too!

The goal is to help pupils practise segmenting words into their sounds, and grow their knowledge of how the sounds correspond to different graphemes. It can also be used to practise segmenting and spelling words with adjacent consonants, polysyllabic words and alternative spellings.

Here's how it works:
Pupils hear a recording of a word and see a lovely matching picture. Below there are some tiles, each with a grapheme on. The aim of the game is to rearrange the tiles to correctly make the word — and avoid the tricky tiles with incorrect graphemes on. You’re in control of which graphemes are included, so you can tailor the game to your pupils. Handy!
