Interactive Phonics Games on CGP+

Rhyming & Alliteration 

Increase pupils' awareness and knowledge of words that rhyme with our Rhyming games. Plus, help pupils recognise the sounds at the start of words and hear the differences between them, with our Alliteration games.

Here's how it works:

• Pupils hear a recording of a word, and see a matching picture.
• In the Rhyming games, pupils have to pick which word rhymes with the word at the top. In the Alliteration games, they have to pick which word starts with the same sound.
• Each option is read aloud and accompanied by a colourful picture (with the option to see the words written out on-screen).

Real or Fake

Help pupils practise blending for reading, and develop knowledge of how groups of letters match specific sounds (known as grapheme-phoneme correspondence).

Here's how it works:

• Pupils see a word and say it out loud.
• They have to decide whether it's real or made-up.
• You can choose which graphemes are included in the game. 

Segmenting

Develop pupils' spelling skills by segmenting words into their component sounds, and building their knowledge of how groups of letters match different sounds. 

Here's how it works:

• Pupils hear a recording of a word and see a matching picture.
• Below, there are some tiles, each with a grapheme on.
• Pupils drag and drop the tiles to make the word — and avoid the tiles with incorrect graphemes on.
• You can choose which graphemes to play with.

Comprehension

Develop pupils' reading and comprehension skills by practising blending and building vocabulary.

Here's how it works:

• Pupils see a sentence and three bright and colourful pictures.
• They have to pick the picture that matches the sentence.

Sentence Building

Build pupils' comprehension skills and practise reading tricky words.

Here's how it works:

• Pupils see a colourful picture accompanied by a jumbled-up sentence.
• They have to rearrange the words to form a sentence that matches the picture.
